Greg Kiernan has joined New York-based The Cutting Vision as a senior editor. For the past 12 years, Kiernan was an editor/partner at 30 Second Street Editorial, Albuquerque, N.M.
While at 30 Second, Kiernans credits included Bounce Fabric Softeners Sensitive Side via DMB&B, Toronto; Slim Jims Macho Boy for North Castle Partners, Stamford, Conn.; and Silhouettes, Family Portrait and Generations for Childrens Advil out of Young & Rubicam, New York.
Kiernan graduated from the University of Arizona in 81 with a B.F.A. in radio and television production. Until 88, he was at Major League Baseball Productions, then based in New York. According to Kiernan, he edited the gamut of programs from documentaries to online programming to national spots. He has online edited the documentaries Understanding Weather and Understanding Skyscrapers, both for The Learning Channel, as well as PBS Whose Home on the Range.
About his cross-country move, Kiernan explained, Id done everything that I could with the company in New Mexico, and it was time for a change and to get back into the real world again. He added, Jeff [Beckerman, The Cutting Visions owner/president/senior editor] and I have been friends for about five years, and it just became more apparent that it would be a good fit.
Kiernan comes from a long line of television professionals. My entire family is in television and has been for three generations. My grandfather is actually in the Museum of Broadcasting announcing VE Day! He-Walter Kiernan-was the host of several game shows. My parents actually met at a radio station. His siblings are also in related fields. Kiernan laughed, We all said we were never going to go into this business!
