DownStream, the Portland-based post house recently acquired by DownStream LLC from direct response ad agency/production company The Tyee Group, Portland (SHOOT, 3/24), has added four staffers: Flame artists Rebecca Bowen and Rex Carter, who will handle high-end visual effects on both the Flame and Inferno; producer Darcy Feinstein; and Avid editor David Massachi.
Bowen, formerly of Will Vinton Studios, Portland, has worked on spots for such clients as M&M’s and Citibank. Carter, who freelanced at Vinton, was last on staff with Lamb and Company, Minneapolis. Carter’s credits span commercials for M&M’s and Wisk, as well as music videos (e.g. Prince).
Feinstein, an 18-year industry vet, was most recently at a pair of Portland shops, Joint and Whipping Post Editorial. Prior to that, she was a mainstay in the Los Angeles post community, having been with Crazy Horse Editorial, Santa Monica, the now defunct Ace & Edie2, and Midtown Post (now Venice Beach Editorial), the in-house editorial arm of Chiat/Day, Los Angeles (now TBWA/Chiat/Day).
Massachi comes to DownStream after serving as the editor of The PJs at Will Vinton Studios. The primetime, stop-motion animated series ran on the FOX network. Massachi, who already had gathered a wide following at DownStream before his stint on The PJs, will once again be an Avid editor on a variety of film and video projects.
Tim Larson continues as DownStream’s president/general manager, and also heads DownStream LLC. Its clientele includes Portland-based ad agencies Wieden+Kennedy, Nerve and Moffatt/Rosenthal, as well as Tyee and Portland production houses Vinton, Chel White Films and Food Chain Films.
Launched in ’88, DownStream specializes in film transfer (including hi-def, via a Philips Spirit Datacine), editorial, post services, CGI and audio.
