Lighting of the Sails artist Andrew Thomas Huang to talk about the process of transforming the Opera House with his new work Austral Flora Ballet. The Chinese-American visual artist and filmmaker is best known for his work with the likes of Bjรถrk, Sigur Rรณs and Thom Yorke in which bodies, objects and nature morph, intertwine and dispel in hallucinogenic fantasies.
Brandon Parvini and Brandon Hirzel with the creative team at LA-based BEMO, in collaboration with director and visionary artist, Thomas Andrew Huang, relied on Maxon Cinema 4D to deliver 12-minutes of mesmerizing, grand-scale projection mapping content for the recent Vivid Festival in Sydney, Australia. In Huang’s piece named “Austral Flora Ballet – with Soundscape by Kelsey Lu,” the 3D motion designs were projected each evening on a continuous loop throughout the celebration of light, music and creativity to illuminate the exterior of the iconic Sydney Opera House Sails.
