Director Ken Morrison has signed with New York-based Conspiracy, the commercial production shop headed by executive producer Tony Harding. Morrisons own New Orleans company, Morrison Productions, continues to represent him for local and regional spot work while Conspiracy now handles the director in major national markets.
Morrison said that his attraction to Conspiracy is related to the fact that its a relatively new company. Im beginning to think that being a big company and having been around a while has become a liability in this industry, said Morrison. Conspiracy is new, its fresh, its different and its people whose careers are evolving. Morrison was most recently nationally repped through long-standing but now defunct Harmony Pictures where his directorial credits included campaigns for Wrigleys Doublemint Gum and Big Red Gum through BBDO, Chicago.
Claiming he started out as a photographer when he was 14, Morrisons first professional work was as a cameraman and a DP before opening Morrison Productions in 79. For years Morrison has been bringing his directing sensibilities to regional advertising. His show reel features impressive work, including a spot for the New Orleans Police Force titled Thin Shoes via Trumpet Advertising, New Orleans, which feels like a short film more than an advertisement. He also directed Coal Mine for Norwest Financial via McDonald Davis, Milwaukee (now BVK/ McDonald) and Anthem for Red Wing via Initio Advertising Agency, a small boutique in Minneapolis. Morrison also has the ability to cater to a more global clientele which he demonstrated with two projects: a spec spot directed on location in Prague for Diesel called Greshneiv; and a real-world BMW ad, Spain, which he helmed through an affiliation with Quasar Films, Madrid.
Morrison is currently directing a Conspiracy-produced spot for Sears Die-Hard Boots via A. Eicoff & Co., Chicago. He also just wrapped a spot in New Orleans with Morrison Productions called Primavera for the Galleria Mall in Houston via Fogarty Klein & Partners, Houston.
Morrison joins Conspiracy directors Franaois Ruggieri and Jean-Marc Piche. The company is repped by Single Bid in New York, Susan Prickett & Co. in the Midwest and Ann Asprodites in the South.
