LONDON-Mill Film, a London-based film effects facility, has hired Bill Schultz as director of technology.
Before joining Mill Film, Schultz had been senior VP of technology and digital production at Sony Picture Imageworks (SPI), Culver City, Calif. While at Sony, he was part of the team that developed "The Stealth," a silent motion control dolly for shooting live action with dialogue, which won a ’99 Academy Award certificate for technological achievement.
Prior to his term at SPI, Schultz had been chief engineer of the design and effects division of Crawford Digital, Atlanta.
In his new position at Mill Film, Schultz is currently working to heighten efficiency between Mill Film and its sister companies, The Magic Camera Company, London. He will also be working with the motion control division of another sister company, The Mill, which is based at Shepperton Studios, London. His arrival at Mill Film also coincides with the start of postproduction on the feature Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott for DreamWorks SKG and Universal.
