Publicly traded, Minneapolis-headquartered iNTELEFILM Corporation (NASDAQ:FILM)—with holdings that include several commercial production companies (bicoastal/international The End and Chelsea Pictures, bicoastal Curious Pictures, New York-based Populuxe Pictures)—has launched webADTV.com. The new Minneapolis subsidiary will combine iNTELEFILM’s recently formed digital archiving and retrieval service, InteleSource.org (SHOOT, 1/7, p. 7), with additional Web-based services that are currently in development.
WebADTV.com will further iNTELEFILM’s main Internet initiatives, which include applying iNTELEFILM’s expertise in short-form video to new media advertising models. Other goals are to increase company-wide efficiencies through the use of new Web-based technologies, and to develop a video-centered, business-to-business portal targeting advertising agencies and spot production companies.
The formation of webADTV. com is the latest in a series of Internet-related moves for iNTELEFILM. Besides forming InteleSource.org, iNTELEFILM also recently entered into a relationship with Hitplay.com, an Internet content syndicator based in Los Angeles (SHOOT, 1/7, p. 35).
INTELEFILM COO James Gilbertson has been named president of webADTV.com. Michael Delgado, iNTELEFILM’s executive VP of marketing, will serve as VP, business development, of the new subsidiary.
"We see webADTV.com as a strategic move to match the fast-moving expansion of our industry into the digital age," said iNTELEFILM president and CEO Christopher Dahl. "As a leader in the commercial production services industry, we have been fortunate to establish key relationships that have enabled the development of Web-based services."
INTELEFILM plans additional acquisitions to further broaden its services, with the objective of enhancing overall profit margins and leveraging its pool of talent and technical expertise to capitalize on the convergence of short-form video content and technologies of broadband Internet delivery systems.
