This spot from Merkley + Partners NY showcases the ability of the new Mercedes-Benz Metris to reconfigure itself, showing its towing-ability, stowing-ability, range-ability, arrange-ability, protect-ability, detect-ability–and various other “possi-abilities.”
Director Marcus Nispel of GARTNER took on this project, a mix of product, story and design, to depict the versatility of the Metris.
“This is a spot that needed to show what the car looks like and all of its possibilities–inside and out,” said Nispel. “I knew that with so much detail, simplicity would be key. An origami-like unfolding with a Bauhaus style. Helvetica, a Massimo Vignelli layout. More like a print brochure than a typical spot. Academic, industrial, but clever and fun.
Drawing on his roots in design, Nispel worked with the Merkley team to weave together a tapestry of possibilities inherent in the Metris. Utilizing multiple split screens and sliding frames, the spot–titled “Endless Possabilities”–showcases the Metris’ ability to adapt to almost any use.
