At NAB 2015, Canon rolled out a 4K camera called the XC10 and partnered for the launch with a popular YouTube filmmaker, Scott Winn, whose channel ScottDW has amassed more than 59+ million views. He released a new video called “Battle of the Ages,” shot on the new Canon XC10 4K digital camcorder. The short features two young thugs who underestimate a sr. citizen. The young criminals learn the hard way that appearances can be deceiving and age is nothing but a number.
Winn captured his fearless cast of three professional parkour athletes through an exhilarating chase and an epic fight scene with the XC10 mounted on a Freefly MōVI M5. Winn and his colleagues also mounted the XC10 on a DJI Spreading Wings S1000 drone with a MōVI gimbal to get a bird’s eye view of all the action.
Canon believes this new camera may find a home among the YouTube community, particularly with its lower price point, small size, and most importantly, its 4K capability–especially as digital channels build out their UHD streaming capabilities. Therefore, they teamed up with Winn to create “Battle of the Ages,” shot and finished in 4K.
