To celebrate the 60th anniversary of its Skyline models, Nissan partnered with TBWAHAKUHODO Japan to create an amusing film showcasing the vehicles’ evolving innovative technologies.
The Skyline is widely known for its sporty designs and high-quality interiors, but in this film, Nissan’s focus is on the car’s continually advanced driving technologies, specifically, Direct Adaptive Steering (DAS)–billed as being the world’s first motion transmission from steering wheel to the car wheels through electrical signals.
The film features Michael Krumm, world-renowned race driver; Krumm is however arguably outshone by an artist in the pink–Pigcasso, the South African pig who has recently made a name for herself through her abstract paintings.
Pigcasso’s paintings are notorious for their complex line formations, which were in this case used to create the uniquely challenging race circuit, putting the Skyline’s DAS technology through its toughest test yet.
The film sees Krumm, who is unaware of the complexity of the track design at first, complete the circuit, marveling at the highly-responsive DAS technology.
“To celebrate the 60th anniversary, we wanted a highly entertaining and engaging way for people to rediscover the charm of the Skyline,” said Takayuki Niizawa, senior creative director at TBWAHAKUHODO Japan. “What better way to demonstrate the innovative DAS technology of the Skyline than with the help of a pig with an innovative talent.”
