McMafia (U.K.) and Especial de Natal Porta dos Fundos (Brazil) earned best drama and comedy distinction, respectively, at the 47th International Emmy Awards this evening (11/25) during a black-tie gala event attended by 1,000 television professionals from around the world and hosted by comedian Ronny Chieng at the New York Hilton.
The drama and comedy honorees were part of a field consisting of 11 winning International Emmy programs and performances spanning eight countries: Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, The Netherlands, Turkey, the U.K. and the U.S. They remaining Emmy winners were: Dance or Die (Arts Programming), Haluk Bilginer (Best Performance by an Actor in Sahsiyet), Marina Gera (Best Performance by an Actress in Eternal Winter), Bellingcat –Truth in a Post-Truth World (Documentary), Falco (Non-English Language US Primetime Program), The Real Full Monty: Ladies’ Night (Non-Scripted Entertainment), Hack the City (Short-Form Series); La Reina del Flow (Telenovela), and Safe Harbour (TV Movie/Mini-Series).
Additionally the Emmy Directorate Award was presented to Christiane Amanpour, chief international anchor for CNN and host of PBS’ nightly global affairs show Amanpour.
And the International Emmy Founders Award went to Game of Thrones creators and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
