Pulse Films has added director Finn McGough to its commercials roster for global representation.
As a spot helmer in the U.K., he has to his credit memorable campaigns for the likes of McCain, Cancer Research U.K., Shredded Wheat and Lidl to name a few. He was previously represented in the ad arena by production house Knucklehead.
McGough is also an acclaimed documentary and drama director. He wrote, directed and produced drama-docs for the globally recognized series Banged Up Abroad and Alive and spent a week in the Amazon jungle and was blindfolded and dropped in the Azerbaijani wilderness as part of Channel 4’s uniquely adventurous series Lost. His celebrated BBC documentary Summer with The Johnsons won him a Prix Europa and his investigative doc The Professional Charmer earned him a Royal Television Society nomination for Best New Talent. McGough’s 35mm short film Flak, based on a short story by Alan Sillitoe (Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner) was also nominated for Best Film and Best Cinematography in the Soho Rushes Film Festival.
In addition to the Prix Europa, Royal Television Society and Soho Fest honors, McGough’s work has garnered recognition from the British Arrows and D&AD competitions.
McGough said, “Google mapped Pulse Films and it’s 1.9 miles from my house. Result. More importantly it’s a brilliantly energetic and forward thinking company. Untraditional and creatively diverse, with a consistently compelling output. Storytelling comes in many shapes and sizes and it’s inspiring to join a company that expresses itself through so many forms, long and short–commercials, documentary and drama too, all of which I hope to pursue under one roof. Excited to join the Pulse Films team and this existing roster of great directors both in the U.K. and the U.S. office (5,437 miles as the crow flies).”
James Sorton, managing director of commercials at Pulse Films, added, “I’ve followed Finn’s career for many years and have always been a fan of him and his work. He has an extraordinary capacity to capture characters and moments that appear totally honest. He’s also a really great person with a brilliant reputation in the industry.”
