Dan Lucey has joined Joan Creative as executive creative director and an equity partner. He will work directly with agency co-founders, chief creative officer Jaime Robinson and CEO Lisa Clunie, on the development and leadership of the creative team, and will help drive growth for the agency and its clients.
Lucey joins Joan from BBDO NY where he spent the past six years as ECD, leading the Foot Locker, Priceline, and Guinness accounts. Prior to that, Lucey ran the Google and Comcast accounts at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. During his career, he has also held roles at Saatchi NY and Mad Dogs & Englishmen NY.
Lucey’s work has garnered multiple awards at Cannes, The One Show, Clios, D&AD, The Andys, AICP, LIA, and the Art Directors Club. His Guinness film, “Wheelchair Basketball,” was named USA Today Ad Meter’s “ #1 Spot of the Year,” one of Forbes’ “Most Unforgettable Ads of 2013,” one of TED’s “10 Ads Worth Spreading,” and was honored by the Christopher Reeves Foundation. Lucey’s “Talking Stain” campaign for Tide was also named one of the best Super Bowl commercials of all-time by Forbes.
“I’ve known Dan for 20 years, since we both started at Mad Dogs & Englishmen, and I always had a strong feeling that one day we would work together in a significant way,” said Joan Creative’s Robinson. “Building the creative department of Joan is absolutely paramount to our success and Dan is someone I trust implicitly to help me do that. He brings creative prowess, emotional intelligence, an incredible imagination, and has the ability to work with clients of all sizes and mindsets.”
Lucey shared, “There is an infectious energy at Joan that you feel as soon as you walk through the doors, and you can tell that everyone that works there feels it too. I’ve actually known Jaime and Lisa for a combined 35 years, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to partner with them at this really important time in Joan’s growth. The agency they have created is incredibly special, which is clear by the way clients have embraced it, and I know we will do amazing things together.”
Clunie stated, “This is a very exciting chapter for us in our evolution as an agency, and Jaime and I knew that as we added to our executive team, it needed to be someone that could understand and nurture our culture and our people. Dan is that person. He is an incredible mentor to emerging talent, he understands the essence of who we are and sees the opportunities we see for clients in today’s marketplace.”
