Todd Lefelt, former managing director of UX at Huge, has joined Deutsch as EVP and head of its user experience design department. Lefelt will work across the agency’s roster of clients, overseeing all user design out of the Los Angeles office. He will report directly to Pete Favat, Deutsch’s North American chief creative officer.
Lefelt comes to Deutsch after spending 11 years at Huge, originally in its New York office and then helping to build its Los Angeles presence. He oversaw all West Coast user design at the agency and has worked with some of the most iconic brands to develop their UX strategy including Apple, Fox, Samsung, Target, Hulu, Ikea and Nike.
“Putting the users at the center of our experiences: communications, branded utilities, VR or the actual product, is core to what we do,” said Favat. “Having Todd’s talent in the house is a game changer.”
Deutsch continues to see growth in its product and platform practice. In 2018, the agency has made more than a dozen key digital hires to service new clients like Mott’s and Canada Dry and for strategic platform projects for Microsoft and Esurance.
Prior to digital marketing, Lefelt designed products for Time Inc. and Kozmo.com, a venture-capital-funded online company focused on home delivery. Graduating with a master’s degree from New York University and a BFA from University of Michigan, he studied fine arts and continues to paint in his free time.
“Deutsch has been on my radar for a while as they have a long history of creating great experiences for brands,” said Lefelt. “Our team is going to go bigger and create truly connected, holistic experiences that go far beyond websites, ads and TV spots. I’m excited to contribute to our clients’ work and platforms. The opportunity to disrupt paradigms, reinvent markets and lead the next generation’s digital businesses and experiences has never been greater.”
Lefelt has been a leader in the UX space for more than two decades and regularly speaks at conferences such as SXSW, Digital Entertainment World and Digital Summit, among others.
