McCann New York received an unprecedented five Grand Clio Awards for its work with State Street Global Advisors on the commissioned “Fearless Girl” during last night’s (9/27) awards ceremony in New York. The bronze sculpture, created by Kristen Visbal, stares down the “Charging Bull” on Wall Street, and gained international attention for building awareness of gender equality. “Fearless Girl” took Grand honors for Branded Content, Public Relations, Events/Experiential, Out of Home and Innovation during a special presentation.
Cecily Strong, Saturday Night Live cast member, hosted the evening.

David Lubars, chief creative officer of BBDO Worldwide and chairman of BBDO North America, accepted the 2017 Clio Lifetime Achievement Award from Greg Hahn, CCO of BBDO New York.
Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, received the first-ever Clio Global Impact Award, which honors an individual or organization who has produced groundbreaking work addressing the world’s most important social and humanitarian issues. Sherrie Westin, EVP for global impact and philanthropy at Sesame Workshop, accepted the award on behalf of the organization from Keith Reinhard, a former Clio Lifetime Achievement recipient and long-time Sesame Workshop board member.
Michelle Lee, editor-in-chief of Allure introduced the Clio Fashion & Beauty portion of the evening. Model and singer-songwriter Karen Elson was on hand to present Grace Coddington, Vogue America’s creative director-at-large, with the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award for Clio Fashion & Beauty, which honors creative excellence in the business of style.
The 2017 Clio Music Honorary award recipient was Kasseem Dean (Swizz Beatz), an internationally acclaimed Grammy-Award winning music producer and global entrepreneur. Music executive Sylvia Rhone presented Swizz Beats with his award at the ceremony.
Clio Music also included performances by Marian Hill and Iron & Wine, both of which appeared on the 2017 Billboard and Clio Music Charts powered by Shazam. Nathan Morris and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men made a surprise appearance at the beginning of the ceremony to spoof their recent GEICO spot with Strong.

“Dune: Part Two” and “House of the Dragon” Win 2 HPA Awards Apiece
Dune: Part Two and House of the Dragon each scored two HPA Awards during a gala ceremony at the Television Academy’s Wolf Theatre in North Hollywood, Calif. on Thursday night (11/7). The HPA Awards honor trailblazing talent in the postproduction industry, celebrating standout achievements in color grading, sound, editing, restoration, and visual effects across theatrical features, commercials, and episodics.
Dune: Part Two topped the Outstanding Color Grading--Live Action Theatrical Feature and the Outstanding Sound--Theatrical Feature categories.
House of the Dragon’s two wins were for “The Red Dragon and the Gold” episode which scored for Outstanding Visual Effects--Live Action Episode or Series Season, and Outstanding Editing--Episode or Non-Theatrical Feature (Over 30 Minutes). In the latter HPA Creative Category, House of the Dragon tied with the “Part Six: Far,l Far Away” episode of Ahsoka.
The HPA’s Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation honored Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. This recognition celebrates the profound impact on both live and filmed entertainment that defined The Eras Tour, underscoring its exceptional impact on audiences and the industry. The jury issued a statement outlining their choice: “Celebrated as the cultural phenomenon of 2023, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour set new records in box office sales, tour revenues, and attendance. The tour showcased exceptional artistry and innovation, making a profound impact on both live and filmed entertainment.”
