Director Luc Janin has come aboard the roster of SKUNK for transatlantic representation. He was previously handled in the U.S. and U.K. by Pulse Films.
Janin becomes SKUNK London’s third U.K.-based signing since opening its doors last year. His body of work spans commercials, music videos and longer form content. His endeavors across motion graphics, music videos and commercials have seen him collaborate with major international brands including MTV, BBC, Pepsi, Adidas, Nike, Lacoste, Guinness, Volkswagen and Nissan.
Janin is currently developing a sequel to The Luckiest Man in the World, which is a short film he made in 2015. The film follows Janin’s friend Chad, who has incurable brain cancer, as Chad jogs to the hospital for his fourth round of brain surgery. The aim of the sequel is to raise awareness of the “Cure My Day” app that Chad has created that connects “Cancerful” people with folks who want to help with everyday errands. It’s a truly inspirational project, and is due for release to the App Store later in the year.
Janin’s artistic orientation was evident at an early age. He spent his youth illegally decorating the streets of Paris with edgy graffiti pieces gathering a cult following in the process, and after many (too many) hours of community service he enrolled himself at the prestigious art school Penninghen (ESAG). There he studied graphic design and illustration, while working on specially commissioned street art for brands.
The director enjoys working with both still and moving images, one heavily influencing the other. Key to his style is a combination of meticulously crafted postproduction and in-camera techniques with raw live-action to create technical yet authentic films.
Kate Taylor, managing director of SKUNK London, said, “We are focused on curating a solid and unique roster that is relevant to the London market, which complements our directorial talent across the pond. Each signing is another piece of the jigsaw and from the offset, Luc felt like a great fit, both in terms of his work and his personality. He is a natural storyteller, and his artistic approach to directing is terribly exciting as is his ability to capture authentic, exhilarating and meaningful moments.”
