Marketing communications agency Campbell Ewald has brought Wojtek Szumowski on board as director of Invention Strategy. In this newly created position, Szumowski will lead and oversee the creative strategy departments across all four of Campbell Ewald’s offices. He will report directly to president Kevin Wertz and chief creative officer Mark Simon.
In addition, Szumowski will be responsible for implementing a new approach for the agency entitled “Invention Strategy” that aims to inspire invention of new forms of storytelling and new emotional links between people, brands, technology and culture. The values of the Invention Strategy approach will help identify unexpected ways to bring together design thinking, social prototyping, technological imagination and empathy to what makes people human, not just consumer segments.
Szumowski joins Campbell Ewald from Crispin Porter + Bogusky (CP+B), where he most recently served as executive VP of Poetic Technology. While there he fostered an original vision of the Invention Strategy process, and in doing so, brought together CP+B’s creative strategy, invention design thinking and creative technology capabilities. For more than a decade at CP+B, Szumowski worked with notable brands such as Volkswagen, Virgin Atlantic, IKEA, Hulu, Burger King, Coke ZERO and Microsoft. Earlier in his career, he served as VP of strategic planning at McCann Detroit and as a sr. account planner at McCann Erickson in Poland.
“Insatiable curiosity and resourceful idealism is in Wojtek’s DNA and at the core of the Invention Strategy approach he’ll bring to the agency,” said Wertz. “With the increasing complexity of modern business and our industry’s evolving relationship with technology, Invention Strategy will uncover transformative opportunities our clients can leverage for cultural intervention.”
“I am inspired to join a talented team of people and help bring invention design values into the agency’s creative strategy process,” said Szumowski. “Invention Strategy is about helping people find new doors to brand stories, and Campbell Ewald will be the perfect place to unlock this approach.”
Sinners and Saints Adds Apple Pie To Its Branded Menu
Bicoastal Sinners and Saints--the multidisciplinary studio overseen by managing director/executive producer Heather Heller, and partners/EPs Yann Henric and Thomas Carroll--has added Apple Pie Tabletop to its roster for branded content. Known for its food and beverage content creation, Apple Pie comprises the husband-and-wife team of director/DP Gene Dubin and director/art director Alisa Volodina. โWorking with Sinners and Saints in the demanding field of tabletop was an absolute pleasure,โ shared Apple Pie Tabletop in a joint statement. โWarm welcome, unwavering support and dedication--everything a director can ask for. The entire experience was both enjoyable and rewarding. We will not miss an opportunity to collaborate with them again.โ
โThe first thing you notice is that Apple Pie has beautiful work,โ Heller observed. โHaving worked with them, I can say that Gene and Alisa are extremely meticulous and detail-oriented; their combination of talent and agility appeals to agencies and clients.โ Also appealing to Heller is Apple Pie Tabletopโs brisk international...
