Spang TV–a Richmond-headquartered commercial production company known for its work for such clients as American Airlines, MasterCard and the Virginia Lottery–has become bicoastal by teaming with new business partner and lead director Andrews Jenkins. Jenkins will be based out of Los Angeles.
Jenkins’ storytelling spans varied campaigns for brands including Mercedes-Benz, Adidas, Budweiser and ESPN. He recently directed a campaign for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) across NBC/Universal’s broadcast networks, 17 cable channels and 50-plus digital outlets. Using real fans and WWE stars on location in Nashville and Memphis, Jenkins employed a Phantom for the campaign, which trended up to #3 on Twitter and led to the highest-rated Wrestlemania episode in the program’s history.
“Jenkins doesn’t shy away from these kinds of amplified visual spectacles, often with results that will leave the viewer slack-jawed,” said Melanie Cox, Spang TV founder and executive producer. “But his reel is also brimming with wry, off-beat humor and a comedian’s sense of timing. This versatility makes Jenkins a great fit for a wide spectrum of clients. Andrews brings such indelible personality to his work. We’re so excited to have this incredible talent as we begin to build Spang TV’s West Coast presence.”
Jenkins related, “Partnering with Spang to bring our combined creativity, vision, and execution more directly to clients on the West Coast is such an exciting next step for me as a director.” Andrews said he would begin building a national brand, signing new talent and bringing the Spang package of talent and resources to his contacts and collaborators.
