How to Train Your Dragon 2 (DreamWorks Animation) earned Best Animated Feature distinction at the 42nd annual Annie Awards recognizing the best in the field of animation in 2014. Held last night at UCLA’s Royce Hall, the Annie Awards cover varied categories and include Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Special Production, Commercials, Short Subjects and Outstanding Individual Achievements.
For the animated feature honor, How to Train Your Dragon 2 topped a field of nominated films that also consisted of Big Hero 6 (Walt Disney Animation Studios), Cheatin’ (Plymptoons Studio), Song of the Sea (GKIDS/Cartoon Saloon), The Book of Life (Reel FX), The Boxtrolls (Focus Features/Laika), The Lego Movie (Warner Bros. Pictures), and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (GKIDS/Studio Ghibli).
How to Train Your Dragon 2 also topped four other Annie categories: Character Animation in an Animated Feature Production; Editorial in an Animated Feature Production; Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production; and Music in an Animated Feature Production.
