Boyhood comes of age in the new year, during the first full week in January, with special industry screenings in NYC and L.A. presented by IFC Films for Guild members. The film’s director/producer/writer Richard Linklater will be on hand for both screenings, first offering a special introduction for the New York screening on Tuesday, January 6, at 6 pm at the IFC Center.
Then on Friday, January 9 at 7 pm, Boyhood will screen at Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills, Calif., followed by a SHOOT Magazine live, in-person interview with Linklater who will share backstory and insights into the film, which has earned assorted honors, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette) honors from the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, as well as the Audience Award at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Additionally, Boyhood has earned five Golden Globe nominations (including for Best Drama and Best Director) and five Film Independent Spirit Award nominations (including for Best Feature and Best Director).
While Boyhood has emerged as a leading Oscar contender this year, Linklater is no stranger to the Academy Awards, having earned Best Adapted Screenplay nominations for Before Midnight in 2014 and Before Sunset in 2005.
The NYC and L.A. industry screenings of Boyhood are open only to Guild members and their one guest. RSVPs are required.
