Rupert Samuel has joined CP+B as executive director of content production. In his new role, he will oversee all production for the four CP+B offices in the U.S. as well as consulting with the agency’s global offices.
A London native, Samuel actually began his career at CP+B. After a memorable internship, he became a key member of the production group that helped rethink how agency production should work. Together with the creative management of CP+B, he helped develop an entirely new integrated production model, which brought previously unrelated departments together and is now the industry standard for agencies around the world. He was named VP of integrated production at CP+B in 2002, overseeing all forms of campaign production for high profile clients including MINI, AND 1, and Burger King. During his time at CP+B, he produced numerous Cannes Grand Prix and Titanium award-winning campaigns and worked with A-List directors like Spike Jonze and Wes Anderson.
In 2007 he became one of the founders of a new agency, Goodness Manufacturing which was ultimately acquired by Trailer Park, one of the leading entertainment marketing firms in the country. There, Samuel evolved and developed an entertainment industry production department of over 150 people spanning broadcast, live action, digital, interactive, motion graphics and non-traditional media to serve brand client needs. His recent focus has been on building extended internal production services for clients.
“CP+B is literally family to me,” said Samuel. “I couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to where it all started and be re-united with the agency and everyone there. To get to work with CP+B, and be a part of their culture that’s now gone global, is an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to get back and start crushing it in 2015.”
Chuck Porter, chairman of CP+B, recalled, “I met Rupert when he just was finishing film school in London and hired him as an intern. He was one of my favorite people then and he still is. He’s a rare talent, he sees things in ways that others don’t, he’s not afraid to take bold steps and big chances and he never takes no for an answer. With budgets and timelines continuing to contract, you have to be more inventive and opportunistic than ever to do great work. Those are the exact traits that make Rupert so special.”
