Former Crispin Porter+Bogusky group executive producer starts new career chapter at digital/social media agency
By Robert Goldrich
Evolution Bureau (EVB), a full-service advertising firm specializing in digital and social media, has hired Scott Potter as VP and director of production. He will be responsible for shaping EVB’s interactive capabilities and will oversee production across all offices.
Potter comes over from Crispin Porter+Bogusky (CP+B), where he was VP/group executive producer, working with clients such as American Express, Microsoft, Burger King, Dominos, Old Navy, Fruit of the Loom, Volkswagen, Vail Resorts and B-Cycle. During his time at CP+B, Potter won awards from Cannes, the AICP Show, The One Club and the Clios competition.
EVB maintains operations in San Francisco, and Boulder, Colo. Potter will be based at the latter office.
SHOOT: What attracted you to EVB?
Potter: EVB is primed to take on a variety of opportunities and I want to help grow it to its full potential. The shop is filled with incredibly talented folks who consistently do innovative work in a multitude of platforms spanning digital, video, experiential, social and product work. Also, I like that EVB has a diverse client roster that stretches across the Atlantic.
SHOOT: What are your priorities at EVB?
Potter: My priorities are a) sharpening our workflow and b) applying more sophisticated processes while continuing to find ways to push into new territories with our clients.
SHOOT: It’s said that one experience informs another. What were the most valuable lessons you learned at Crispin that you bring to EVB?
Potter: At CP+B, I learned you must be willing to constantly step out of your comfort zone to make something worthwhile.
SHOOT: What is (are) the biggest creative challenge(s) facing an agency head of production in the evolving interactive landscape?
Potter: Clients want more for less and on a faster timeline, so executing high-quality work with less is an ever-present challenge for everyone. That said, working in this environment provides producers an opportunity to get even more creative about how we get the work executed; it’s a fun problem to solve.
It is also vital to stay out in front on new platforms, approaches and partnerships, and to know when to place your bets on the work: If you believe in the idea, you have to be relentless in its execution.

Beyond being a world-class creative director and maker, Wassom is a proven team player and strategic thought leader. He’ll be a great addition to the leadership team at The Many working across all accounts. His role will be immediately felt as he guides and supports each of the creative leads in the department.”
A 20-year creative with agency, brand, and freelance experience, Wassom has forged a creative approach which focuses on crafting engaging connections rather than simply make ads. He sees the need for advertising to mean more, not simply do more.
