Joe Schaak, a director known for his comedy and dialogue commercial work, has signed for exclusive representation with integrated production house The Traveling Picture Show Company. He was formerly handled by production house Superlounge.
Schaak’s work over the years has garnered recognition at Cannes, MoMA, Clios, Effies, AICP Show Honor, The One Show and various Addy awards.
His credits span such clients as McDonald’s, ESPN, Verizon, Kellogg’s Wrigley’s and General Mills. Schaak has collaborated with Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, DDB, Publicis, Taxi, BBDO, Carmichael Lynch, Campbell Mithun and Rethink, among other agencies. He has also directed celebs such as Deion Sanders, Shaquille O’Neal, Donald Trump and Britney Spears.
Schaak said he joined Traveling Picture Show Company “largely because of the company’s reputation, and EP John Noble; his ability to relate to the agency and his standing amongst the industry really got me excited. I also joined because of the film side. The Traveling Picture Show Company’s integrated approach is an incredible opportunity for me to expand my commercial work into the full spectrum of branded content for broadcast, film, apps and web,” said Schaak. “Now, no matter what you have done as a director – a good director is a good director and can work in all disciplines. The playing field is a little bigger. I’m really excited to gain these opportunities through TPSC.”
Schaak’s latest endeavors include a documentary about the Embassy Multinational Soccer Tournament that took place in South Africa, 1974. Schaak will be traveling with Neill Roberts, one of the South African soccer players who called this game a catalyst for change. Schaak and Roberts will be interviewing many of the players and revisiting the landmarks.
