The Mill has appointed Heather Fullerton as the managing director of its 180-person strong New York office. She succeeds Alistair Thompson who moved into a global business development role within the overall company last year, supporting the launch of The Mill’s newest studio in Chicago and other strategic initiatives.
Fullerton was a partner at StrawberryFrog in Amsterdam. She was then the founding managing director of its New York operation and a former executive VP and group managing director at McCann Erickson. In the past two years, Fullerton has worked on selected innovation and brand development projects for a select group of agencies such as Anomaly, Circus Maximus and Special Forces.
The Mill is a global visual effects broadcast studio with offices in London, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The group has a worldwide team of 650 people and is credited with the multi-award winning PETA "98% Human" taking the 2013 VFX Gold Lion at the Cannes Advertising Festival, the iconic Nike ‘Write the Future’ broadcast spot, and recently, a series of cinematics for Activision’s ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’.
In announcing Fullerton’s appointment, Robin Shenfield, The Mill’s co-founder and group chief executive, said, “The majority of our senior managers are drawn from production roles so Heather’s experience in creating and managing innovative solutions to marketing challenges is hugely complementary. She is also an experienced leader for the largest studio in our group.”
He added, “Increasingly, the challenge for The Mill is to not only deliver world-class visual effects but to partner with our clients in creating engaging content across all media. I am excited about Heather as a champion for what I believe is the unrivalled depth of creative expertise that exists within our company.”
Fullerton noted, “I believe the future of advertising and brand communication will be in the form of visual storytelling across all screens. The Mill has an unrivalled understanding of visual narrative and is perfectly positioned to partner with the world’s best creative minds and continue raising the bar.
Fullerton will also serve as a member of The Mill’s group executive board, helping to develop strategy and provide leadership for the entire group.
