Among the theatrical feature winners at the 75th Annual American Cinema Editors (ACE) Eddie Awards were editors Juliette Welfling for Emilia Pérez, Myron Kerstein, ACE for Wicked, and Mary Blee for The Wild Robot. Welfling topped the theatrical drama category while Kerstein won best edited theatrical comedy, and Blee earned distinction for the best edited animated feature.
Held at UCLA’s Royce Hall on Friday night (3/14), the awards ceremony recognized outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries.
Among the TV winners were editors Maria Gonzales, ACE and Aika Miyake for the drama series Shogun, Liza Cardinale, ACE and Dane McMaster, ACE for the best edited single camera comedy series on the strength of a What We Do in the Shadows episode, and Russell Griffin, ACE who topped the multi-camera comedy series category for an episode of Frasier.
As for special honors, Wicked director Jon M. Chu received the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, recognizing a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film. Film editors Maysie Hoy, ACE and Paul Hirsch, ACE received Career Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to film editing.
