RASCAL hires Paul Wilmot as VFX supervisor
RASCAL creative studio has hired Paul Wilmot as its newest VFX supervisor.
Wilmot has spent the past two decades in postproduction, beginning at The Mill as a Flame artist and VFX supervisor. There, he met RASCAL managing director and founder Gareth Brannan, and honed his talents under the mentorship of RASCAL ECD, Andrew “Barnsley” Wood, with whom he now reunites. Along the way, Wilmot also worked at the likes of Freefolk, Moving Picture Company, Coffee & TV, Electric Theatre Collective, and Black Kite Studios.
Wilmot’s fondest memories from his career include collaborating with Rogue Films director Sam Brown to realize his visions for Jay-Z and Foo Fighters. Most recently Wilmot has enjoyed working with the creative team at Leo Burnett to help bring their Morrisons Christmas puppets to life, with The Bobbsey Twins in 2024, and Michael Gracey directing the 2025 campaign.
Wilmot commented, “RASCAL is a bit of a homecoming for me. With all the history we share, it was really only a matter of time before I was lured into the RASCAL honey trap (actual honey--the company makes its own). It feels like the perfect time in my career to join forces with old friends and new to help build something the way we always believed it should be--focusing on the work, the creative and the combination of talent and technology that always excited us about the VFX business in the first place. I hope we can spread the love and passion we all have for this business while continuing to innovate new and exciting ways to bring our work to life.”
Brannan added, “Paul and I have worked together since our earliest days in the industry, and I know his passion and expertise are the perfect match for us as we bring together the best of the best to... Read More
