Bicoastal content creation studio BODEGA has added director Jason Winer to its roster for U.S. representation spanning commercials and branded content. Winer is best known for the pilot of Modern Family, for which he won the DGA Award for Outstanding Direction of a Comedy Series.
Winer was the producing director of Modern Family’s first season, receiving Emmy, Peabody, Producers Guild, and AFI Awards. Over the show’s 11 seasons, he directed 24 episodes, including classics “Fizbo,” “Dude Ranch,” and “Virgin Territory,” for which he received his second directing Emmy nomination. Currently, Winer is directing and executive producing Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s forthcoming Untitled Brothers Comedy Series for AppleTV+. Over the course of his career, Winer has produced and directed eight television pilots that have gone to series (including Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23, Life in Pieces, Single Parents, Perfect Harmony, The Santa Clauses, and drama The Big Leap) along with two feature films: Arthur for Warner Brothers, and Ode to Joy for IFC.
Winer stated, “I love the idea that BODEGA is a carefully curated boutique–a collective of directors that the shop can truly stand behind. After the incredible experience we had together on our recent Norwegian Cruise Line shoot, I feel honored to have seemingly proven myself worthy of this elite company!”
A graduate of Northwestern University, Winer originally honed his improv skills in the acclaimed comedy group, “The Mee-Ow Show,” and later studied with Del Close himself at the Improv Olympic Theatre in Chicago.
Prior to joining BODEGA, Winer was repped in the U.S. commmercialmaking market by production house Gifted Youth.
BODEGA executive producer Erin Tauscher noted, “Jason is one of the most exciting directors that I’ve had the pleasure to collaborate with in my career. Every call, every meeting, is like sitting in on a masterclass in directing. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him to the BODEGA roster.”
