While Emilia Pérez, The Substance and Wicked topped the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards’ tally with three wins apiece, Anora walked away with the marquee Best Picture honor during Friday’s ceremony (2/7) at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. It was the lone win of the night for writer-director Sean Baker’s Anora.
The Wicked wins went to Jon M. Chu for Best Director, Nathan Crowley and Lee Sandales for Best Production Design, and Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design.
Emilia Pérez earned distinction as Best Foreign Language Film while Zoe Saldaña top the Best Supporting Actress category, and “El Mal” was named Best Song.
The Substance saw Demi Moore win for Best Actress, Coralie Fargeat for Best Original Screenplay, and its hair and make-up artists being recognized for their work.
Garnering two awards apiece were Conclave, Challengers and A Real Pain. Conclave won for Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Peter Straughan. Challengers took Best Editing for Marco Costa and Best Score for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
