Audio post studio Mr. Bronx has hired Zach Fortin as executive producer. Fortin joins from his previous role as exec producer at Method/Company3 and prior to that at Preymaker. He also worked on major campaigns including Beyoncรฉโs Super Bowl commercial with Verizon, and with brands including Xfinity and State Street, among others. With extensive experience in the production and visual effects spaces, as well as in building strong teams and client relationships, Fortin will now leverage his skills to drive Mr. Bronxโs new business development and scale the company.
Mr. Bronx founder and mixer David Wolfe said of Fortin, โHis background in the visual side of the industry is strongly influencing how we think about film and our approach to sound design. His encouraging and supportive leadership style has quickly won everyone over, and he has us all excited to push our creative output even further.โ
Fortin added, โMr. Bronx and the entire team, especially after working so closely with Dave and [sr. mixer/sound designer] Geoff Strasser, have presented a golden opportunity where I can fuse my business-side strategy experience with my passion for creativity. Iโm incredibly excited to see where the company will grow from here and am glad to work alongside Dave and his roster of talented sound designers and mixers to scale the long-standing business even further.โ
With a lifelong passion for art, Fortin has always been artistic, taking art classes throughout school. Although he considered pursuing industrial design, his social nature led him into the service industry, exposing him to various environments and eventually steering him toward advertising, where the blend of social dynamics and creativity resonated with him. From there, he joined Preymaker as an EP, and his friendship with Strasser led to consulting with Mr. Bronx on various projects. These collaborations sparked further conversations, eventually leading him into the new role. Fortin has consistently embraced the social aspects of business, using them as opportunities to foster connections and grow ventures.
Optimus promotes Caralyn Moore to editor
Caralyn Moore has been promoted to editor at Optimus, the production and post house with offices in Chicago and New York. Moore started at Optimus in 2019 as a seasoned assistant editor, next earning the title of senior assistant and now making the jump to editor.
Moore has cut spots for such brands as CDW, Chicago Humanities Festival, Famous Footwear, Hillshire Farm, Walgreens and WW. In addition, she edited the independent feature film All Happy Families, which premiered at the 60th Chicago International Film Festival last fall and is releasing in select AMC Theatres nationwide on September 20.
โEditing is like a big open-ended puzzle, where you only use a fraction of the pieces and there are no right answers (though there are definitely wrong ones),โ said Moore. โI love the challenge of finding the right balance of visuals, pacing, music, sound, and information--itโs precarious, itโs challenging, itโs endlessly creative and fun.โ
โCaralyn has proven time and again how skilled she is in her craft,โ said Angelo Valencia, Optimus managing editor/partner. โHer calming presence always makes you feel you are going to be well taken care of and her attention to detail is second to none. I am so excited for her to showcase her talent for everyone to see.โ
Born and raised in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, DC, Moore was passionate about theater classes at school and making short films with her friends and family. Her love of writing, acting and especially editing, landed her at Northwestern University for film school. Following graduation, Moore spent time in the documentary production world in Washington, DC, and then several years freelance assistant editing back in Chicago.
