Creative production studio Florence has brought filmmaker and photographer Louise Palmberg aboard its talent roster.
Born in Sweden and now based in New York, Palmberg grew up with European restaurateur parents, catalyzing her love of culinary experiences. Her hospitality-based clients range from popular global brands to one-of-a-kind family-owned restaurants. Like an expert chef, Palmberg as a director prepares a well plated dish, thinking through every detail, personalizing each project and reflecting a unique approach to reaching a client’s goals while creating appetizing films in the process.
Palmberg has helmed many campaigns for food, beverage, and hospitality companies like Tanqueray, Aperol, Fever Tree, Aldi, Uber Eats, Chipotle, Nespresso, Grey Goose, and Guinness, among many others. She’s directed various brand partnership spots like Vogue x Starbucks, Vanity Fair x Don Julio, and Bacardi x Academy Awards, creating visual stories about how these two entities connect through stylized shots. Prior to joining Florence, Palmberg was most recently repped as a commercials director by production house ArtClass. Her photography work has also been featured in high-profile publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vogue, and Eater New York.
“I’ve always been interested in their roster and the work they produce because of its high quality,” said Palmberg about joining Florence. “I deeply believe in collaboration, sharing resources, and taking care of each other, especially because we work in an incredibly intense industry. It turns out that everyone at Florence and I share those beliefs, which hit home for me. They appreciate and encourage my hybrid career as a photographer and live-action director. I’m often asked to incorporate stills and motion in my projects, and I foresee this becoming a bigger trend in the future. I’m excited to work with a company prioritizing a more integrated approach.”
Matt Griffo, executive producer of Florence, elaborated, “I met with Louise to discuss her potentially coming on board, and in our conversation realized we were so aligned on artistic and personal principles that she was an obvious fit for Florence. We’re thrilled to have such a talented photographer and commercial director on board. Louise has a deep love for what she does, and she’s always ready to try new things and grow. I’m excited to see what she creates next, and I’m thankful she’s chosen to do it at Florence.”
Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. Explore Generations, Old School vs. New School, In “Poppa’s House”
Boundaries between work and family don't just blur in the new CBS sitcom "Poppa's House" starring father-and-son comedy duo Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. They shatter.
"It's wonderful to come to work every day and see him and some of his kids and my sister and my brother and nieces and nephews. They all work on this show. They all contribute," says the senior Wayans. "I don't think there are words to express how joyful I am."
Wayans plays the titular Poppa, a curmudgeonly radio DJ who's more than comfortable doing it his way, while Wayans Jr. plays his son, Damon, a budding filmmaker who's stuck in a job he hates.
"My character, Pop, is just an old school guy who's kind of stuck in his ways," says Wayans, who starred in "In Living Color" and "My Wife and Kids."
Pop yearns for the days when a handshake was a binding contract and Michael Jordan didn't complain if he got fouled on the court. Pop laughs at the younger generation's participation trophies.
"It's old school versus new school and them teaching each other lessons from both sides," says Wayans Jr., who played Coach in the Fox sitcom "New Girl."
"They (the characters) bring the best out in each other and they're resistant initially. But then throughout the episode they have revelations and these revelations help them become better people," he adds.
The two have worked together before — dad made an appearance on son's "Happy Endings" and "Happy Together," while son was a writer and guest star on dad's "My Wife and Kids." But this is the first time they have headlined a series together.
The half-hour comedy — premiering Monday and co-starring Essence Atkins and Tetona Jackson — smartly leaves places in the script where father and son can let... Read More
