Pomann Sound, the longest operating independently owned, audio post company in NYC is celebrating their 40th Anniversary. Started in 1984, creating trailers, radio spots, and radio dramas like National Lampoon, Pomann Sound has grown to be a premier audio post company producing sound for ad agencies, television networks, Film studios and branded content. Among its most distinguished projects are soundtracks for many animated series like “Doug” and Disney’s currently running Emmy®-nominated series "Kiff."
Throughout the decades, large and small agencies and their clients have turned to Pomann Sound for sound design and mixing, winning many Radio Mercury, Gold Cannes Lion , and Clio awards in the process. Expanding into television series and documentaries twenty years ago, they are now a go-to choice for many film and TV producers. Bob Pomann, Creative Director and CEO is thrilled to reach this milestone. “This has been a crazy ride. I would like to thank all the wonderful and amazingly talented partners we have worked with over the years, sharing our passion for creativity and telling their stories through sound.”
In tandem with this anniversary, Pomann Sound has relocated and expanded to a new facility across from Grand Central Terminal. Designed with today’s workflow in mind, the new, three-studio facility has floated floor booths for the most demanding VO records, ADR sessions, and a large screen Atmos Mix stage.
“Though we still work remotely with many clients, in-session collaboration has been increasing since the end of COVID. There is something about the in-person collaborative experience that enhances the creative process you don’t get from notes.” says Bob. “Being across from Grand Central provides easy access for our clients and talent. Coming in for a session couldn’t be easier, and we have received some nice feedback already. I like to joke, we are the oldest newest studio in NY.”
