The Producers Guild of America bestowed PGA Awards for Outstanding Short-Form, Children’s and Sports Programs on Saturday (3/20) along with revealing the winner of the PGA Innovation Award.
Defying Gravity: The Untold Story of Women’s Gymnastics (Season 1) topped the Sports Program category while the Children’s Program honor went to The Power of We: A Sesame Street Special. Earning distinction as Outstanding Short-Form Program was Carpool Karaoke: The Series (Season 3). And the Innovation Award was given to BRCvr.
Now in its second year, the PGA Innovation Award recognizes the production of a noteworthy, impactful new media program that significantly elevates the audience’s viewing experience.
These four Producers Guild winners kicked off the 32nd Annual PGA Awards which will roll out a virtual ceremony on Wednesday (3/24) to honor others in the competition judged as best across feature film and television categories.
The Saturday announcement of the PGA Award winners in Short-Form, Children’s and Sports Programs as well as the recipient of the Innovation Award took place as part of a Guild event highlighted by three moderated conversations with nominees, respectively, for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, Documentary Motion Pictures, and Non-Fiction Television.
In between the roundtable discussions, 2021 PGA Awards event chairs Julius Tennon and Chris Thomes presented the special category Guild honors as well as the Innovation kudo.
