Production designer Chuck Parker (90210, Monk) has been elected to replace Scott Roth as executive director of the Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) in accordance with a ruling by the Department of Labor requiring that this position be elected by the entire membership of the guild.
The mono-monikered ADG business representative dooner was elected to succeed current associate executive director Bill Thomas.
Also up for election were board membership seats representing the four crafts councils. Representing the Art Directors Craft are Jack Taylor, Jr., Marcia Hinds, Mimi Gramatky and Thomas Taylor. Scenic Title and Graphic Artists Craft representatives are Alan Kobayashi, Ellen King, Eric Rosenberg and John Moffitt. The Set Designers, Model Makers Craft are represented on the board by Kristen Davis and Rick Nichol. Joseph Musso and Tim Wilcox ran unopposed as board members representing the Illustrators and Matte Artists Craft.
The four current officers of the Guild–president Nelson Coates, VP Patrick DeGreve, secretary Thomas Wilkins and treasurer Oana Bogdan–did not stand for election at this time.
SMPTE elects board officers, regional governors
SMPTEยฎ,the home of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, has revealed the board officers and regional governors who will serve terms beginning in January 2025.
Three new officers--Richard Welsh as SMPTE president, Eric Gsell as SMPTE executive VP, and Polly Hickling as SMPTE Education VP--have been elected for a two-year term from Jan. 1, 2025, to Dec. 31, 2026. One SMPTE officer, Lisa Hobbs, will be continuing her service as SMPTE secretary and treasurer for another two-year term. Additionally, Raymond Yeung will be stepping into the role of standards VP on Jan. 1, 2025.
โSMPTEโs membership has spoken,โ said SMPTE interim executive director Sally-Ann DโAmato. โThese officers have been tasked with an important responsibility, one each of them is prepared to tackle head-on. These next two years are looking bright for SMPTE!โ
In addition to the officers, 10 regional governors were elected by the Society to serve two-year 2025-2026 terms.
