Linda Kaplan Thaler, chairman of Publicis Kaplan Thaler and responsible for assorted memorable ad campaigns, including the Aflac duck, has teamed with Robin Koval on a new book coming out this fall, “Grit to Great: How Perseverance, Passion and Pluck Takes You From Ordinary to Extraordinary."
Thaler shared, “It’s a topic that’s near and dear to our hearts. We’ve been researching and writing 'Grit to Great' over the past two years and here’s what we’re now so pleased to share—the true path to achieving personal and professional goals is not the mythical 'It' factor (a genius IQ, virtuoso talent, or a fat bank account), but rather the ‘Grit’ factor- Guts, Resilience, Initiative, and Tenacity. And the best part? Anyone can have it.”
She added, “Our favorite part of writing the book was getting to hear and write about truly inspiring stories of people who embody grit as well as offering many simple tools and tactics we all can incorporate in our daily lives to grow our own grit.”
A “Grit to Great” Facebook page has been created and people are invited to share their #GritStories. The "Grit to Great" book is available for pre-order now (Amazon, Barnes and Noble) and debuts on September 8. Her collaborations with coauthor Koval have all become best-sellers: "The Power of Small," "The Power of Nice," and "Bang! Getting Your Message Heard in a Noisy World."
Much of Thaler’s ad work has become part of America’s pop-culture landscape and she has composed renown jingles such as, “I’m a Toys ‘R’ Us Kid,” and “Kodak Moments.” She has also worked on presidential campaigns for Clinton/Gore in 1992 and Hillary Clinton in 2008. Thaler was recently inducted into the 2015 Advertising Hall of Fame.
