ABC and Yahoo announced an expansion Thursday of their working relationship beyond their news divisions to include content from ABC entertainment programming.
Starting with a sneak peek at the next "Scandal" episode and a Jimmy Kimmel video, the Yahoo website will feature clips from Disney programming, including ABC and ABC Family.
"Good Morning America" will start a regular "Yahoo Your Day" segment, featuring experts from the website in areas like health, style and food. The companies said they will "deepen their collaboration" on news events like the upcoming presidential election, and content from Yahoo's Katie Couric will be distributed across ABC.
"We expect the deal to significantly increase our audience every day," said ABC News President James Goldston.
The companies have been collaborating for three years, with ABC News content featured on Yahoo, and Goldston credits it with giving the network a substantial advantage in spreading its presence to mobile devices. The companies say some 129 million people per month see their content online.
