Billy Bob Thornton, (The Judge), will present the Motion Picture Showmanship Award to Bob and Harvey Weinstein, co-chairmen of The Weinstein Company, at the 52nd Annual ICG Publicists Awards Luncheon to be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 20. Thornton’s All The Pretty Horses and Sling Blade were released by The Weinstein Company.
Chelsea Handler will present the Television Showmanship Award to Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix. Handler, who has teamed with Netflix on a multi-tiered deal, will launch her talk show with the world's leading Internet TV network, in 2016. Her first original stand-up comedy special, Uganda Be Kidding Me, Live, is currently streaming on Netflix, and her four docu-comedy specials will launch on Netflix this year.
As previously announced, Bob Newhart will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of AMPAS, will receive the President’s Award from Ava DuVernay, director of Oscar-nominated film Selma.
Other awards to be presented are the Press Award; the International Media Award; the Maxwell Weinberg Awards, which recognize outstanding accomplishment in the field of publicity; the Les Mason Award, given to a publicist for lifetime achievement; and the Bob Yeager Award, which recognizes significant community service. The event is sold out with more than 900 expected to attend.
