Hornet has signed the directing team of Emmanuelle & Julien for representation in the U.S. and Canada. The helming duo–whose bread and butter is CG with sleek renders and express characters–comes to Hornet via a partnership with Parisian production company ChezEddy.
Emmanuelle, a noteworthy character designer, and Julien, a talented 3D artist, place comedy and character at the center of their work. The duo first gained attention for their university film A La Franรงaise, which the pair completed alongside classmates Morrigane Boyer, William Lorton, and Ren Hsien Hsu. A series of silent gags about the 17th Century French aristocracy, portrayed as stuffy, slightly hedonistic chickens, the film–conceived by Julien–won a string of awards and was the highlight of numerous festivals.
With the same subtle humor, expression and comedic timing found in their shorts, the duo has also been taking on commercial work. Their most recent creation is a multi-spot comedy campaign for Brossard Brownies.
