A man is committing a rite of summer, firing up the barbecue in his backyard. But this conventional slice of life takes an unconventional turn as a chicken sitting barbecue side talks to the man who’s going to cook him. The chicken himself has a wandering eye as he checks out a good looking woman attending the backyard party. He asks the guy if he can set up a date for him with the gal.
“I don’t think so,” responds the man who brushes the chicken with marinade.
A slogan appears on screen which reads, “Your meat isn’t going to cook itself,” accompanied by the logo for the store chain Barbeques Galore and its website address (bbqgalore.com).
Titled “Chicken,” this spot was one of two in an offbeat comedic package directed by David Jellison of Santa Monica-based TWC for Y&R Brands, Los Angeles.

NYPA BESTOWS PHIL DIXON AWARDS
In recognition of significant contributions to the success of the New York State and City production communities, the New York Production Alliance (NYPA) last week bestowed its Phil Dixon Award upon several honorees: Alan Suna, CEO, and Stuart Suna, president of SilverCup Studios; Paul Moore, Eastern exec director of the Motion Picture Editors Guild and past NYPA co-chair; and Terry Lawler, exec director of NY Women in Film and Television.
The award is named after Dixon, an NYPA founder.
These individuals have honored Phil Dixon’s legacy “with their untiring and unselfish support of the New York production industry, ” said NYPA executive director John Johnston. “Stuart, Alan, Paul and Terry have committed their time and talent individually and through their organizations, to work through NYPA with state and city government to help maintain New York’s competitive edge as a location for the film, TV and commercial production industry.”
“2008 marks the tenth anniversary of the formation of the New York Production Alliance,” Johnston noted. “Over the past decade we have seen a remarkable turnaround in the amount of production attracted to New York City and State. We are proud to have played a role in helping to make that happen.”
