    Postproduction house Arts Academy has secured Safeword Creative to handle representation on the West Coast.  Arts Academy was recently founded by Peter Wiedensmith and Tommy Harden, who combined have 40+ years of industry experience making award-winning work. Safeword will be representing Arts Academy’s exclusive roster of editors which includes Wiedensmith, Harden and Kelly Lyon. Safeword Creative is a female + LGBTQ-led creative management shop founded in 2015 by sales reps Erika Bokamper and Erika Sheldon (aka “The Erikas”)….

    Richard Kraemer and Josh Yagjian have joined Riedel Communications as regional sales representatives for North America. Kraemer, who is based in Toronto, will oversee sales in Canada, while Boston-based Yagjian will help cover accounts in the Northeastern region of the U.S. Kraemer and Yagjian will both report to Rich Zabel, VP of sales, Americas. Kraemer has over 20 years of account management experience in the media production and broadcasting industries. He comes to Riedel from Genesis Integration Inc., where he served as an account manager specializing in government, corporate, and education. Prior to working at Genesis, Kraemer spent several years at Canon and Hitachi as an account manager, getting his initial start at JVC. Kraemer also gained technical experience at Panasonic as a product manager. Yagjian has more than 15 years of account management experience, with the majority of it focused on selling video equipment for broadcast production. He comes to Riedel from Canon U.S.A., where he served as an account manager for the company’s broadcast customers, covering the entire Eastern seaboard, with an emphasis on production truck companies, television networks, and colleges. Riedel Communications designs, manufactures, and distributes pioneering real-time video, audio, data, and communications networks for broadcast, pro audio, event, sports, theater, and security applications. The company is headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, and employs over 700 people in 25 locations throughout Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Americas….

    A Closer Look At Proposed Measures Designed To Curb Google’s Search Monopoly

    U.S. regulators are proposing aggressive measures to restore competition to the online search market after a federal judge ruled Google maintained an illegal monopoly for the last decade.

    The sweeping set of recommendations filed late Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Justice could radically alter Google's business, including possibly spinning off the Chrome web browser and syndicating its search data to competitors. Even if the courts adopt the blueprint, Google isn't likely to make any significant changes until 2026 at the earliest, because of the legal system's slow-moving wheels.

    Here's what it all means:

    What is the Justice Department's goal?
    Federal prosecutors are cracking down on Google in a case originally filed during near the end of then-President Donald Trump's first term. Officials say the main goal of these proposals is to get Google to stop leveraging its dominant search engine to illegally squelch competition and stifle innovation.

    "The playing field is not level because of Google's conduct, and Google's quality reflects the ill-gotten gains of an advantage illegally acquired," the Justice Department asserted in its recommendations. "The remedy must close this gap and deprive Google of these advantages."

    Not surprisingly, Google sees things much differently. The Justice Department's "wildly overbroad proposal goes miles beyond the Court's decision," Kent Walker, Google's chief legal officer, asserted in a blog post. "It would break a range of Google products — even beyond search — that people love and find helpful in their everyday lives."
