Video production agency Team Bubbly has signed director Ashley Sears for her first spotmaking representation. The NYC-based Team Bubbly will handle her in the U.S. market.
Sears got her start shooting fashion and beauty through clients including Cover Girl, Herbal Essences, Escada, and Procter & Gamble Prestige, though it was her years of experience working in the restaurant industry that led her to shift focus towards the culinary arts. From local purveyors and Michelin-starred restaurants to international ad campaigns, Sears has documented every facet of the industry. Her recent commercial partners include Tabasco, Pompeian Olive Oil, Hennessy VSOP, Budweiser, and Jameson Irish Whiskey. In fall 2017, she produced and developed her first cookbook for the popular East Coast bite-sized dessert brand, Baked By Melissa. In 2018 she made her directorial debut, partnering with Team Bubbly on a series of 12 short format ads for Tabasco.
A joint statement from partners/EPs Andres Rojas and Frank Siringo of Team Bubbly read in part, “Ashley’s attention to detail and passion for the craft is only matched by her love of food and what it can evoke. Her work goes beyond thrilling visuals to harness ideas that are rich in creativity and inventiveness”.
Sears added, “I am fortunate to have found such a supportive partnership in Team Bubbly. Frank and Andres are as passionate about creating unique, visually stimulating, quality work as I am. They move mountains so that I can stay focused on the creative – which allows me to spend more time making magic. I’m excited to funnel my filmmaking and photography experience into more new partnerships with the team!”
Inspired in part by her photographer grandfather while coming of age, Sears had always gravitated to creative pursuits across most artistic mediums. She pursued film photography in high school and leveraged her experience to first photojournalism, then fine arts with an emphasis in photography from the University of Montana. She moved to NYC to develop her budding career, taking jobs at restaurants to support her income. One serendipitous photoshoot with a chef on the job–himself preparing a pig from a nearby family farm–earned Sears national acclaim from magazines like Edible and Food&Wine, and cemented her role as a culinary photographer for years to come. Her photography work later blossomed into directing opportunities for brands such as Tabasco and Genova Tuna, where she met and collaborated with Team Bubbly EPs Siringo and Rojas.
