Emmy® Award winning music industry executive Jonathan Firstenberg has launched “REP.” The new company has been designed to serve as a Sales Representation Solution for Indie Music Publishers and Independent Music Catalog/Asset Owners, allowing them access to increased revenues via Film, TV, Advertising, Digital, Broadcast and Non-Broadcast placements and sales. REP is comprised of a pool of experienced, independent sales and licensing representatives.
REP has been designed to open doors and to introduce music catalogs and music product owned by its clients to licensees by pitching and licensing client music. REP will also share all searches and briefs with its clients while concurrently promoting its clients’ brands. The new company’s efforts will allow clients to focus on the creative and production side of music. REP will charge its clients $1,000 per month, with an initial three month minimum term – additional three month renewable terms will be available thereafter. The company will charge a 20% commission on sync usage based on license fees.
Regarding the launch of REP, Firstenberg said, “When we have conversations with indie music composers and songwriters, owners of production catalogs and music houses, and indie song labels and publishers, they go something like this: ‘I am getting placements, my sync revenue is growing, but I have to split my time between composing, recording, managing and selling. Although I have a large network of clients and fans, there are always new licensing opportunities out there that I am missing out on, since I simply don’t have enough time in the day.’ The experience of these musicians was the impetus for us to launch REP. Our goal is to serve as outside sales reps who can develop and expand our clients’ rosters, respond to briefs on their behalf, and deliver sync, custom and blanket opportunities to our clients, aiding them in their revenue growth.”
