Vincent Lin Cracks the List with ‘CHOPIN’ Dramatic Comedy Screenplay

Valiant Pictures co-founder and director Vincent Lin has earned high ranks among the 2020 Academy Nicholl Fellows, cracking the Top 50 Screenplays as a semi-finalist for the writing fellowship for his dramatic comedy ‘CHOPIN.’
Synopsis: An estranged young man of immigrant parents returns to the small American town he grew up in to tend to his sick grandmother. What starts off as an unwanted relationship, sparks a discovery of family, identity, and love.

Vincent Lin got his start in film working as a Production Assistant on several Michel Gondry music videos, including the Kanye West video for “Heard 'Em Say” featuring Adam Levine, and on Steven Spielberg’s film MUNICH. After working up the production chain for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Dateline NBC, he eventually found a place at SMUGGLER, the most awarded and consecutively ranked “Top Commercial Production Company” in the world.
In 2015, Vincent partnered with Executive Producer Matthew D’Amato and founded Valiant Pictures. The company has become one of the fastest growing minority-owned commercial production companies in New York City, forming relationships with leading advertising agencies. In 2018, Valiant stepped foot into feature film production, acting as producers on CLEMENTINE (Dir: Lara Gallagher, IFP Film Lab, Sundance Creative Producing Summit), SNAKEHEAD (Dir: Evan Jackson Leong, Linsanity), and post-supervisor for PORNO (Dir. Keola Racela, Student Academy Award Winner, Sundance Post-Production Lab), which premiered at the 2019 SXSW Narrative Competition Feature category.
Vincent is Taiwanese-American and the former Media Board Member for TAP (501c3), on the judging committee for NYU’s The Purple List and The Stevie Awards, and on the screening panel for the Hamptons International Film Festival.

They devote massive resources toward brand awareness, audience targeting, content strategy and community engagement. Yet, while they know that social platforms are critical to boosting sales and attracting new customers, many neglect one of the most effective tools for connecting with consumers: sonic branding.
Marketers often associate sonic branding with catchy mnemonics used by big brands like McDonald’s, Netflix and Intel in their advertising. But that is a very limited view of what sonic branding is and what it can do. Sonic branding is a way to build awareness and stimulate engagement across all touch points, from advertising to broadcast digital, in-person and social. And it’s not limited to members of the Fortune 500. Brands at all levels can benefit from a sonic identity that is memorable, engaging and reflective of its core values.
Sound has been scientifically proven to be deeply tied to memory and emotion. There’s a reason that certain songs stick in your head and bring back memories formed years or even decades earlier. So, it’s surprising that sonic branding is often an afterthought in marketing plans. That is especially true in social media marketing.
