The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the Editors Guild, Formosa Group and NBCUniversal are among the official sponsors of the annual MPSE & CAS Charity Golf and Poker Tournament scheduled for October 14, 2018 at Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland, California. Co-hosted by the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) and the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) the popular event brings together professionals from across the world of entertainment sound. It is also a significant charitable event with proceeds benefitting MPSE’s Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Fund, which provides mentoring and support for student sound artists. Cinema Audio Society President Mark Ulano is honorary chairman of the event.
This year’s event promises to be the biggest and best yet. The winning team in the scramble-style golf tournament will receive a prize of $1200 in the form of gift cards from Roger Dunn Golf Shops, with additional prizes awarded to second and third place finishers. Other activities include longest drive, putting and hole-in-one competitions with individual prizes as high as $10,000. The winner of the poker tournament will take home a $1000 gift certificate toward a vacation getaway in Las Vegas.
This year’s event also includes a Ball Drop Raffle. Numbered balls will be dropped from a bucket held aloft by a firetruck with the balls closest and farthest from a target hole taking home prizes. Raffle tickets may be purchased at https://bit.ly/2JZIcjs.
“Members of MPSE and CAS look forward to this event as a chance to relax and have fun with their peers while raising money for a great cause,” said MPSE President Tom McCarthy. “We draw more participants every year.”
