Comedy Dynamics announced today it has acquired the documentary film The Laughter Life.
The Laughter Life follows a week in the life of the young comedians who write and star in Studio C, a popular sketch comedy television show that has garnered over 1 billion views on YouTube. But theirs is not your typical comedy success story, as the cast and crew behind the program are practicing Mormons living in the deeply observant community of Provo, Utah. The Laughter Life introduces the viewer to a world few have visited and demonstrates the unifying power of comedy.
"It was a great privilege to spend time with the talented comedians of Studio C, documenting their unique process and deep connection with their fans. I'm very proud of this film and absolutely thrilled to be working with Comedy Dynamics to share it with comedy lovers everywhere," said film director Juliet Werner.
The documentary, directed and produced by Juliet Werner (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), originally premiered at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival in August of 2016, and also screened at the Dances With Films festival in Los Angeles in June of 2017, where it caught the attention of Comedy Dynamics.
"We're ecstatic to be at the forefront of such a unique project," said Brian Volk-Weiss, CEO of Comedy Dynamics.
Comedy Dynamics, a Nacelle company, is one of the largest independent comedy production and distribution companies, producing Kevin Hart's Guide to Black History, Animal Planet's Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson, the new scripted comedy on Hulu, There's… Johnny!, History's Join Or Die with Craig Ferguson, MTV2's Wild 'N On Tour, and Hulu's Coming To The Stage. The company has worked with a wide range of established and emerging comedic talent including Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Katt Williams and many more. In total, 12 of Comedy Dynamics' releases have been Grammy-nominated, with 2 wins.
