Director Vincent Peone continues to set the standard of excellence on the internet, winning his sixth Webby Award for a short film he wrote and directed for Vogue. The clip, which topped the shortlist in the Film & Video: Variety category, documents a frank and far-ranging conversation between Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour, captured during their first meeting since Meryl portrayed Anna in The Devil Wears Prada.
A vibrant intro leads into the meeting of a film legend and a fashion icon in a piece that is both provocative and illuminating. Peone’s unobtrusive and transparent direction allows the women to shine and their perspectives to come across in a profound way. Their conversation, which spans weighty and timely issues including the Pentagon Papers and the Mueller investigation, sexual harassment, female empowerment, and what Meryl and her daughters talk about around the dining room table, ends on a warm and humorous note, striking just the right balance of tone.
As a trusted collaborator of CondéNast, Vincent has helmed original films starring celebrities such as Mindy Kaling, Allison Williams, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Most recently, he wrote and directed Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne as she worked 24 hours as an intern at Vogue. He also produces and shoots Vogue’s award-winning 73 Questions video series.
A true creator for the modern age, Vincent recently partnered with Executive Producer Geno Imbriale to launch ArtClass, a next generation production company based in Los Angeles. They are currently assembling a roster of directors who are similarly fluent in creating high-level branded content within today’s digital media landscape.
