Seeking Corporate, Documentary, Education, Entertainment and Student Films
Entries in Corporate, Education, Entertainment, Documentary and Student categories are invited for the 2018 US International Film & Video Festival (FilmFest). The entry deadline is March 15, 2018, with judging results available in May.
Entries must have been produced or released between September 1, 2016, and March 1, 2018, and cannot have previously been submitted into the Festival.
Awards include a First-Place Gold Camera Statuette, Second-Place Silver Screen Statuette, Third-Place Certificate for Creative Excellence, Student Award Certificate and Best of Festival (Grand Prix).
In 2017, the 51-year-old festival attracted entries from 25 countries and awarded 24 Gold Cameras, 37 Silver Screens, 42 Certificates and one Student Award. Grand Prix winners were NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corp., Tokyo; Centre of Electronic Media, Bern, Switzerland; Australian Children’s Foundation, Melbourne, VIC, and LBL Production (FreeMotion Group), Moscow & Novosibirsk, Russia.
In addition, the One World Award, given to a production that demonstrates international cooperation and global understanding, went to Bozo Film Company, Rotselaar, Belgium, for “Dare to Think.” The production was done for 200-year-old Ghent University in Belgium to promote the school as a socially committed and pluralistic university. This award is selected and presented by the International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers, a global network of production company owners (iqfilm.org).
The competition prides itself on its judging process, according to chairman Lee Gluckman Jr. Judges view each entry on its own merits and against its peers. Judges are not required to select winners in all categories. As a result, the top award in a category is not necessarily a Gold Camera first place. Conversely, more than one Gold, Silver or Certificate may be awarded in a category.
