Prime Focus Technologies (PFT), the technology arm of Prime Focus, has been awarded NewBay Media’s TV Tech Global Magazine IBC 2017 ‘Best of Show’ for its industry-first Interoperable Master Format (IMF) Media Player. The player is part of PFT’s flagship CLEAR™ Media ERP Suite and is positioned to help Media and Entertainment (M&E) companies drive enhanced efficiencies by automating and simplifying the distribution of IMF packages. It also plays a key role in lowering Total Cost of Operations (TCOP) for M&E enterprises by reducing the cost of storage, transfers, and transcoding.
NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards recognize outstanding products and technology of the past year in the media and broadcast space. Shortlisted winners were judged at the IBC 2017 exhibition, according to a range of criteria, including ease of use/maintenance, performance against category, richness/relevance of the feature set, value/ROI, versatility, and innovation.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition of technology excellence from NewBay Media,” said Ramki Sankaranarayanan, Founder & CEO, Prime Focus Technologies. “CLEAR’s IMF Media Player is a major milestone in our innovation driven product roadmap towards IMF readiness, and this award further validates the valuable possibilities it offers on the back of automation.”
CLEAR’s IMF Player powers users with the ability to watch and review IMF Composition Playlists (CPL) over secured streaming proxies. HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) manifests for these compositions are generated using proxies of the underlying images, thus ensuring a smooth playback experience.
In addition to providing standard MAM features for IMF Packages, CLEAR offers extensive IMF workflow solutions for publishing content into various formats like DPP AS-11 and iTunes. Latest product updates include support for the upcoming Broadcast and Online (B&O) IMF application with RDD 44 Pro-Res MXF essences. B&O IMF is a joint specification project initiated by DPP and SMPTE to create IMF for Broadcast and Online.
NewBay Media received a record number of entries this year for the Best of Show Awards. All winners will be featured in the IBC Best of Show eBook which will be available later in the year.
