Promos for primetime broadcast network series don’t normally skew towards dark humor. But this one for CBS’ Ghost Whisperer most definitely does.
A nerdy-type guy finds himself drawn to something that his roommate is watching on the living room TV. The prime magnet drawing the hapless soul to the boob tube is the fetching Jennifer Lowe Hewitt, star of Ghost Whisperer.
Unaware of the show, he asks his roomie what it’s about. The roommate explains it’s a series in which Hewitt “hangs out with dead people.”
Immediately the smitten nerd dives headfirst out the apartment window, falling several stories to land face down atop a parked van. As he lays nearly motionless, a super appears accompanied by the famed CBS eye logo; it reads, “Ghost Whisperer. Fridays 8 p.m.”
“Window” is one of three spots in a promo package (the others promoting the CBS series Criminal Minds and CSI: Miami, respectively) directed by Matt Aselton of bicoastal Epoch Films for Cliff Freeman and Partners, New York.
