It’s great to welcome back past SHOOTonline users who have been so patient while we’ve been upgrading the site and to welcome first time users outside the USA who discovered SHOOT this past year through the digital PDF version.
The premise behind the site is very simple… provide creatives, executives, and artisans with editorial & database resources so that they can connect directly to timely relevant news, great work, and each other. SHOOTonline.com is designed to help you stay up to date on what’s going on in the industry, check out new work, and search contact information for companies you might want to work with — everything revolves around helping users explore new possibilities and opportunities. To do this, we have created a dynamic integrated site that is very user friendly, and depending upon the subscription level chosen, allows access to various information and search capability.
The key sections are:
- News – Current news & articles archive
- ScreenWork โข Database of work and credits
- Directory โข Database of companies and contact information
The areas that offer easy access for individuals to post information are:
- Directory Listings
- Message Boards
- Events
- Classifieds
When you explore the site, you’ll find that certain areas are more populated with information and data than others. Since we are starting from point zero in sections such as message board postings and events listings, it will take a short while for these areas to grow. We expect that they will grow quickly as users log on and post information. If you are in charge of events for your company, you might want to get right in there and post your event. The editorial archives date back to 1997 and the ScreenWork database is launching with work covered in various 2005 SHOOT columns. This is an area we plan to grow quite a bit this year.
On February 10th, we will be launching a new weekly HTML e.dition to provide timely news with links to information on SHOOTonline.com. If you haven’t already signed up for it, you can do so on the site when you register. SHOOT’s mission is to provide you with all the news and information you need in the formats you prefer. With twice-monthly print issues & same date digital PDF versions, weekly HTML e.ditions, and this website, we will be able to cover more news and information than ever before and offer advertisers more opportunities than ever before.
Building on our tradition dating back to 1960 for being the first publication to cover commercial production & post, SHOOT expanded its focus in 2005 to include news and information about interactive advertising and branded content to better assist agencies and clients in making informed creative and production decisions about all forms of content, whether it’s created for a television screen, a movie screen, a computer screen, or a PDA screen. SHOOT also explores the connections being formed among the advertising, entertainment and media sectors, trying to provide perspective on the ever-shifting advertising landscape.
