Music agency Groove Guild–headed by founder Al Risi and creative director/partner Paul Riggio–is expanding its talent roster, signing multi-platinum-selling producer and artist Frans Mernick for exclusive commercial representation. With a diverse background spanning work as a producer, songwriter, engineer, mixer and multi-instrumentalist, Mernick has been the driving force behind a slew of culture-defining tracks and EPs, partnering with artists including Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, and Dangermouse.
Hailing from NYC and currently residing in L.A., Mernick spent many years playing in bands before signing on as an in-house producer for American rapper A$AP Rocky. With nearly a billion total streams for his collective productions, Mernick has turned out recent work that includes songs with and for MisterWives and Foster the People, as well as rising superstars including Beau Young Prince, Gabriel Black and Johan Lenox. Mernick has upcoming songs cut with A$AP Rocky, Matt Ox, and Between Friends.
Mernick recently crafted a cover of Woody Guthrie’s “Better World A-Comin’.” Mernick noted, “I have always respected Woody Guthrie’s work as a songwriter and activist, so covering this song was an exciting undertaking. It’s not easy to take a Woody Guthrie song and modernize it; I tried my best! Woody’s message is as relevant today as it was when he vocalized it; his lyricism is timeless.”
