3008 Editorial has added award-winning editor Quan CM Tran to its roster of talent. During his career, Tran has cut spots for brands such as Gatorade, Nestle, Dodge, Nationwide, Patron, Cleveland Cavaliers, Hershey’s, Coors Light, Hasbro, Pepsi and The Home Depot.
In the emerging world of 360 video and VR, Tran has edited projects for Shinola, GMC, Oculus and the film “Arrival.” His 360 video for Shinola received a Lumiere Award from the Advanced Imaging Society.
Quan has also cut short films that were featured at SXSW, Dallas International Film Festival and the Warsaw Film Festival, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and Oculus House at Sundance.
“Quan has been a staple in the Dallas market for many years and I’ve always admired his passion and commitment to his craft,” said 3008 owner Brent Herrington. “His approach to every job is very methodical, fresh and smart. He’s an editor’s editor and I’m very excited to have him join our team.”
Before joining 3008, Tran worked at Reel FX, Radium, Willow Street Editorial and Mad River Post.
“It’s really hard to articulate what makes a cut work at times and a lot of that comes down to feeling for me,” said Tran. “What does help along the way is asking good questions, listening, and restraint with all of the choices, because simplicity, as Whitman once wrote, “is the glory of expression.” Having worked on several projects at 3008, I came to appreciate the joy that their team had in delivering top-notch work. So I’m excited to come on board and be a part of it.”
